Talking about the experience while doing end-user research, Stacy recalls one of the nurses who described how frustrated she felt while working with the technology that does not allow her to look after patients appropriately. “A couple of minutes in the interview she started crying, it was so bad it brought her to tears,” Stacy mentions. She believes a major concern for healthcare providers are poorly designed software programs that negatively affect their goal. This is when Stacy, Rob, and Paul felt the need to bring about changes in the healthcare management landscape to eliminate the patient-provider communication gap and gave life to the idea of bringing human-centric health IT systems through POMIET Health. The company’s focus is on streamlining workflows and leveraging human factors to make complex technological systems simple, meaningful, and relevant for the end-users and patients. “For us, healthcare is very human; it’s about human behaviors, human choices, and human interactions.”
POMIET is an acronym for ‘peace of mind in everyday technology,’ and the firm’s methodology is built around that concept by bringing different and complicated systems together into intuitive and enjoyable solutions to make the healthcare worker or the consumer’s life easier. The company also provides peace of mind to the business stakeholder who is paying for the technology and the IT team that has implemented it.
For us, healthcare is very human; it’s about human behaviors, human choices, and human interactions. Technology needs to enable that, not interfere
With its proven Peace of Mind Healthcare methodology and experienced lean development teams, POMIET Health helps its clients in accelerating innovation and simplifying complexities to bring customized, user-friendly solutions that integrate with their existing Health IT. “We’re solving a lot of workflow problems, here the efficiency is not just for the time-savings, but for effectiveness, how can the providers efficiently lift their quality of care and improve patient satisfaction to reach a better outcome. For us, healthcare means providing the best care and more personalized care,” says Stacy. Since its inception in 2014, the Ohio-based firm has designed and built solutions, web and mobile applications, to support clinicians, patients, payers, and members.
Using POMIET Health’s flagship product, Healthii—a user-centered SaaS —healthcare providers can enhance their care quality and can boost patient engagement while eliminating the technical divide that blocks quality care. “The patient and the provider should always be the focus of the entire landscape, not the technology,” asserts Stacy. The tool, which is designed to transform care, also helps in growing revenue by allowing clinicians to be more productive, improve results and save money. Also, Healthii can be integrated into the electronic health record (EHR) for easy access and data sharing.
POMIET Health looks forward to further scaling solutions, like Heathii, which improve patient and provider interactions. Also, the company is exploring opportunities for predictive data analytics with electronic clinical quality measures (ECQMs). “It’s been a great journey. We are involved in different parts of the healthcare ecosystem, but at the same time applying our methodologies to optimize the workflows and enhance experiences and interactions because that’s what going to drive improvements in the healthcare landscape,” concludes Stacy.
