We are facing great challenges but also a great opportunity to make progress in solving some of the most important health problems humanity has ever faced. If there is one positive takeaway from the COVID-19 global pandemic, it is that human beings have the potential to do good when they put their energies into the right objectives and work collaboratively. So much so, that the average under normal conditions is that the development and approval of a vaccine could take 10 years or more, yet COVID's vaccines were made available in record time thanks to global collaboration and the focus of energy and resources on a real, just and worthwhile cause.
Now, let's apply this same philosophy and attitude to solve some of the most pressing problems we face, let's get out of the zero-sum game, let's move away from extreme ideologies and connect the talent and entrepreneurs that are spread all over the world so that together with the rest of the stakeholders we can quickly solve those big problems that affect us today and that will continue to affect us in the coming years or decades if we do not change the way we do things and put all our energy in finding solutions and not in looking for culprits. Let's concentrate on doing good in a collaborative way and allow those solutions that we need so much to arrive quickly and benefit as many people as possible.
" As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same "
As Marianne Williamson said: “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
― Marianne Williamson, A Return to Love: Reflections on the Principles of "A Course in Miracles" Although Marianne's quote for some may have a religious tone that makes some people uncomfortable, the message is universal and very pertinent to these times. Let's concentrate on the heart of the message and the heart of the message is about hope, confidence in the capacity of the human being to do good and from that place to make this world a better place.
At this point, the real question is:
Who is up to the challenge and who wants to be part of the solution?
